Athletics
Lessons for life
Athletics has been an integral part of a student’s education at Ransom Everglades throughout the school’s history. Head coaches are teachers and educators, and many are part of the academic faculty. Our goal is to foster a student's passion for sports while instilling leadership skills, teamwork and a lifelong work ethic.
We don’t recruit athletes. We build programs. The middle and upper schools field 76 teams for boys and girls in 17 sports. More than half of our students play on at least one team every year. Some 15 percent of Raider athletes go on to play at the collegiate level.
No matter their next steps in life, student-athletes depart Ransom Everglades with skills and values that help them lead and thrive.

Girls golf completes remarkable season at state championships
Read MoreThe Raider girls golf team capped off an incredible season at the state championships held at the very difficult Mission Inn & Resort El Campeon Course in Howey-in-the hills, Florida. Eighth grader Esha Nagalla '29 led the Raiders with scores of 79 and 75, followed by senior Kate Khvorostiana '25 who finished her terrific career as a Raider in style. Freshman Ella Wester '28, sophomore Lillian Liu '27, and junior Abby Pollak '26 rounded out the scoring for the team. Following multiple years of struggling to field a team, the Raiders surprised everyone and completed a remarkable turnaround earning a state bid for the first time in seven years. Congratulations to all student athletes, coaches and supporters on a wonderful season. -
Raiders finish season strong at state championships

Seventh grader Axel Monssoh '30 led the Raiders on the difficult El Campeon Course followed by junior Matteo Bloom '26 and eighth grader Cole Durham '29. Seniors Jesse Hellring '25 and Navraj Suri '25 rounded out the scoring with solid performances. This marked the seventh state appearance in the past eight years and capped off another tremendous golf season for the Raiders. Boys' sixth-grade cross country team wins national scholastic title in the 3,000 meters
RE's sixth-grade cross country team won the 2024 Middle School Cross Country Nationals in the 3,000 meters in Louisville, Kentucky, on Nov. 9. Russ LeFrak '31, Tiago Da Silva '31, Sebastian Dangond '31, Samuel Alexander '31 and Juan Andres Dasburg '31 crossed the finish line with an average time of 11 minutes and 48 seconds. LeFrak led the team with his 14th-place individual finish in 11:37.6; all of the boys finished in the top 28 in a field that included 80 runners from around the nation.Read More -
Raiders move to 3-0 with victory over St. Brendan
Freshman Charlie Jaffee '28 led the way with two goals and juniors Johanna James '26 and Stella Colombo '26 added a goal of their own as the Raiders rolled to a 4-1 victory to close out a perfect 3-0 week. Defensively, junior Avery Almazan '26 had a team high 13 steals in a dominant defensive performance from the Raiders. In front of the home fans the Raiders got on the scoreboard early and never looked back. The team will look to make it four in a row as they head to American Heritage Plantation for a key road contest this afternoon. Kick off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.Read More -
Raiders cruise to victory in home opener
Junior Stella Colombo '26 made her presence felt on opening night with a five goal performance to lead the Raiders to an 8-0 victory over Divine Savior. Freshman Charlie Jaffe '28, and juniors Oivia Geller '26 and Joanna James '26 added a goal of their own to round out the scoring for the Raiders. From the opening whistle the Raiders dominated control of possession and put pressure on the Shark defense leading to multiple successful scoring opportunities. Defensively the Raiders were steady, never allowing the Shark offense to move the ball. The victory moves the Raiders to 1-0 on the season as they turn their attention to a road contest against True North on Wednesay, November 6th. Raiders earn top four finish in regional championships
Strong winds provided the backdrop for the elite field of golfers at the FHSAA class 1A region 4 championships held at Miami Shores Golf Club. The Raiders were led by Axel Monssoh's '30 +2 over par (73, t14th); Matteo Bloom '26 (74, t19th): Cole Durham '29 (76, t27th); and Jesse Hellring's '25 (79, t42nd) rounded out the scoring for the Raiders earning them a fourth place finish in the 12 team field. RE sailors claim seventh place in national sailing event
Ransom Everglades sailors Manolo Campos '25, Sofia Rhone-Fernandez '26, Ava McAliley '26 and Sebastian van de Kreeke '25 finished seventh overall at the Atlantic Coast Championship in Annapolis, Md., Nov. 2-3. At the biggest sailing event of the fall season, the team improved on last year's 12th place and showed resilience, overcoming cold weather and shifting winds. Raiders complete home slate with 35-6 victory
Freshman Neimann Lawrence '28 threw for five touchdowns in the first half as the Raiders rolled to an easy 35-6 victory over Smarten Academy in the final regular season home game of the year. Junior Juan Velazco '26 continued his outstanding season with a career high 117 yards on four catches including a pair of touchdowns. Freshman Noah Alce '28, Kolton Smith '28 and sophomore Hunter White '28 all caught touchdowns of their own to round out the scoring for the Raiders. Defensively, the Raiders were led by a pair of sophomores in Harrison Ferrentino '27 and Coley Hucks '27 who combined for four sacks, and four tackles in the victory. The Raiders will now turn their attention to a crucial district road game against LaSalle on Thursday as they look to secure a spot in the regional playoffs. Raiders perform well at Atlantic Coast Championships
This past weekend the Raider sailing team traveled up to Annapolis, Maryland to compete in the Atlantic Coast Championships. This event is considered a mini national and featured some of the best teams in the country including Ransom Everglades. Cold weather and shifty winds set the stage for challenging racing. Seniors Manolo Campos '25, Sebastian Van De Kreeke '25 and juniors Sofia Rhone-Fernandez '26, and Ava McAliley '26 performed well over the two day event earning a seventh place finish. Led by senior swimmers Nohan Gomez ’25 and Kiera Rampersad ’25 – each of whom won four gold medals – Ransom Everglades won the boys’ team championship and 11 individual races at the Florida High School Athletic Association 1A District 15 Championships at Belen Jesuit High School on October 29.Read More -
Three district titles for RE golfers
Ransom Everglades' golfers won three district titles at the Florida High School Athletic Association 1A District 15 Championships on Oct. 28 as Kate Khvorostiana '25 topped the leaderboard in the girls' individual competition and the boys' and girls' teams won their respective team championships, displaying excellence all around. The victory was the fourth straight for the RE boys' team, and the combined boys' and girls' team titles were the first for RE since 2018.Read More -
Raiders move on to regional semifinal in four set victory
Seniors Mia Jean Claude '25 and Julia Lewkowitz '25 combined for 41 kills as the Raiders kept their season alive with a four set victory in regional quarterfinal play over Saint Andrews. Senior Addison Pollock '25 controlled the defense for the Raiders with a season high 43 digs. Senior Lindsay Ng '25 and freshman Nalah Picchetti '28 combined for 43 assists in a clutch performance in set three and four. The Raiders came out strong in the first set cruising to victory but would face adversity with a second set loss. Set three featured senior Karina Ly '25 controlling the back row with Addison Pollock '25 as the Raiders saved multiple swings to earn a 25-22 victory. From there the Raiders would cruise to a final set victory and advance to the regional semifinal where they will take on district foe Gulliver Prep on Saturday.Read More -
Raiders earn runner up finish in Maverick Invitational
The Raider golf team kept its fantastic season going with a runner up team finish in the highly competitive Archbishop McCarthy Maverick Invitational in Coral Springs. The 13 team event matched the top of the class in 1A, 2A and 3A teams from Dade and Broward counties. The Raiders battled warm, windy and wet course conditions to equal there best result in this event since 2022. Seventh grader Axel Monssoh '30 led the way for the Raiders with a +1 73, good enough for 2nd place in the individual portion of the event. Junior Navraj Suri '26 continued his strong play with a fifth place finish and eighth grader Cole Durham earned a top 15 finish. Senior Matteo Bloom '25 rounded out the scoring for the Raiders with a solid round that earned him a top 25 finish. Raiders celebrate senior night with victory
Senior Rudy Pages '25 scored his first career touchdown off a hook and ladder midway through the first quarter as the Raiders rolled in a 40-6 victory over Somerset South Homestead to improve to 5-1 on the season. Freshman quarterback Neimann Lawrence '28 continued his strong season with 307 yards passing and five touchdowns. Senior Reid Rosenberg '25, junior Rauli Matos '26, and freshman Noah Alce '28 and Finn McCarron '28 all scored in the victory. Prior to the game, 12 seniors were honored in a ceremony on the field for their contribution to the program and leadership they have provided along the way. Raiders celebrate seniors in district quarterfinal victory
Seniors Karina Ly '25, Addison Pollock '25, Mia Jean Claude '25, Julia Lewkowitz '25 and Lindsay Ng '25 were honored prior to the game in a senior night ceremony that had been postponed as a result of Hurricane Milton last week. From the opening whistle the Raiders came out inspired and dominated play in a three set sweep over Miami Killian High School to advance to the district final later today. All five seniors contributed on the stat sheet in the victory. Congratulations to the senior class for helping to lead a terrific turnaround in the past few years with a 39-14 record including a regional finalist, plam league championship and tournament of champions title. Raiders begin district play with victory over Miami Springs
Junior Rauli Matos '26 led the way with three catches for a career high 126 yards including a 69 yard touchdown completion as the Raiders rolled in their district opener 42-8 over Miami Springs. Freshman quarterback Neimann Lawrence '28 continued his dominant season with three touchdowns through the air and one on the ground. Lawrence would finish the game 12/17 for 270 yards passing. Behind strong offensive line play from seniors Rudy Pages '25, Mack Srebnick '25, Harrison Lamnin '25, Chase White '25 and junior Jackson Crowley the Raider rushing attack of Noah Alce '28, Jack McCarron '26 and Spencer Geller '27 combined for 120 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. Defensively, the Raiders continued putting pressure on the quarterback behind strong play from sophomores Coley Hucks '27, Edwin Carr '27 and freshman Quinnard Mays '28. Senior Mason Lastra '25 added an interception to his collection nearly bringing one back for a touchdown. Raiders earn tri match victory in recording setting performance
High level golf was on full display at the Biltmore Golf Course as the Raiders hosted Westminster Christian and Miami Palmetto in a nine hole match on a beautiful Tuesday afternoon. The Raiders posted their best scoring day of the season firing an even par (140) team score amongst the top four players. The Raiders were led by outstanding individual performances by eighth grader Cole Durham '29, (33, -2), seventh grader Alex Monssoh '30 (35, E), and juniors Navaraj Suri '26 (36, +1) and Matteo Bloom '26 (36, +1). Junior PJ Clingan '26 and sixth grader Anson Dover shot (37, +2) rounded out the scoring for the Raiders which made it the first day in school history that six Ransom Everglades golfers scored in the 30's. Girls golf earns top four finish at prestigious event
Eighth grader Esha Nagalla '29 continued her steady play leading the Raiders with a 75 (+3) in windy conditions to earn a top ten individual performance. Senior Kate Khvorostiana '25 also played well finishing with a 76 (+4), good enough for a top 15 finish. Sophomore Lillian Lu '27 and Freshman Ella Wester '28 rounded out the scoring for the team which was strong enough for a top four finish at the prestigious Youth Fair Invitational which featured many of the top teams in South Florida. Raiders win five set thriller over Lourdes
An epic five set three hour match ended in victory for the Raiders who showed resilency all night with a come from behind win in front of an energetic home crowd to defeat Our Lady Of Lourdes. Seniors Mia Jean Claude '25 and Addison Pollock '25 combined for 33 kills, 32 digs and and two blocks to lead the Raider front line. Eighth grader Abigail Zichella '29 had her best performance of the season with 11 kills and strong all around play. The Raiders also received key contributions from seniors Julia Lewkowitz '25, Lindsay Ng '25 and eighth grader Nalah Picchetti '29 in the win. The victory moves the Raiders to 10-6 on the year and winners of 9 of their last 10 games. The team will look to continue their winning ways when they host Palmer Trinity on Thursday night. Raider swimming earns victory at RE Invitational
Beautiful weather and a fast pool made for an exciting Ransom Everglades Invitational this past weekend as the boys were victorious and the girls finished second in the six team field. Meet records were broken by Raider swimmers including senior Kira Rampersad '25 in the girls 100 yard butterfly with a time of 56.80 and in the boys 400 yard freestyle relay led by seniors Ethan Sullivan '25, and Nohan Gomez '25 and juniors Carlos Luchsinges '26 and Jay Holly '26. with a time of 3:32.69. Sports Performance at Ransom Everglades
Ransom Everglades offers its students a sports performance training program designed to meet the year-round strength and conditioning needs of student-athletes while enhancing physical education offerings for all students. Our training staff assists students with sport-specific training regimens designed to develop physical competence, improve athletic performance and prevent injury, and they work closely with each of RE's coaches to integrate the performance training into their weekly practice plans and optional off-season workouts. Those principals are incorporated into the middle school physical education program. At the high school, the goal is to achieve physical competence, improve athletic performance and decrease the risk of injury.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society.
