Athletics
Lessons for life
Athletics has been an integral part of a student’s education at Ransom Everglades throughout the school’s history. Head coaches are teachers and educators, and many are part of the academic faculty. Our goal is to foster a student's passion for sports while instilling leadership skills, teamwork and a lifelong work ethic.
We don’t recruit athletes. We build programs. The middle and upper schools field 76 teams for boys and girls in 17 sports. More than half of our students play on at least one team every year. Some 15 percent of Raider athletes go on to play at the collegiate level.
No matter their next steps in life, student-athletes depart Ransom Everglades with skills and values that help them lead and thrive.

Raider girls lacrosse earns victory on senior night
Read MoreJuniors Bea De Lima '26, Abby Pollak '26, and freshman Cici Cisneros '28 had four goals a piece as the Raiders rolled to a 17-4 victory over Coral Reef on senior night at Robert E. Walker Field. Sophomore Phia Ranawat '27 and juniors Chloe Zaldivar '26 and Alicia Medina '26 continued their strong play with two goals each and sophomore Ella Crowley '27 added a goal to round out the scoring for the Raiders. Senior Rebecca Paresky '25 provided three assists in her first game back from injury making sure her senior night was one to remember. The Raiders also celebrated senior goalie Sofia Martin '25 and senior midfielder Jordan James '25 thanking them for their contributions to the program. The Raiders will now head into spring break before preparing for the final stretch of the regular season and post season. -
Raider flag football remains perfect with 38-7 victory
Senior Didi Carvalho '25 scored twice and intercepted two passes on the defensive end to lead the Raiders to a resounding 38-7 victory over RASG Academy to move to 6-0 on the season. Senior Lindsay Ng '25 added two touchdown scores of her own and freshman quarterback Penelope Gavin '28 continued her impressive play leading the Raider offense to thirty eight points. Defensively, Lila Chang '28 was in the backfield all afternoon totaling four sacks and disrupting the Warrior offense. The team will head into spring break in prime position to earn a regional playoff berth as they enter the second half of the season.Read More -
Raiders earn tenth win of season
Read MoreJunior Jacob Rubinstein '26 led the way with a dominant performance on the mound in a 13-1 victory over Somerset Academy Silver Palms. The righty surrendered five hits and one run over five innings, striking out six. Junior Juan Velazco '26 opened the scoring for the Raiders with a solo shot to left field to start a five run fourth inning which included a pair of RBI's by junior Enrique Macias '27 and senior Justin Kaplan '25. The Raiders would roll from there accumulating 13 hits in the game. Senior Mason Lastra '25 continued his impressive senior season with two hits and two stolen bases. The victory moves the team to 10-4 on the year. The Raiders will have a quick turnaround as they host Rivera Prep this evening for senior night. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. -
Raiders move to 8-4 with victory over Wellington
Senior Reid Rosenberg '25 and sophomore Winston Hosford '27 combined for six goals and two assists to the lead the way in an 11-7 victory over Wellington High School over the weekend. Sophomore Hunter White '27 added two goals, and junior Wes Barnett '26 set up his teammates all afternoon with a game high four assists. Sophomore Leo Porcelli '27 was excellent in the face off circle winning seventy five percent of the draws. Junior goalie Jackson Crowley '26 picked up the victory in the net with eight saves including crucial stops in the second half. Raiders take three of four in Stefano Forzano tournament
The Raiders earned a third place finish at the Stefano Forzano tournament winning three of four games with victories over Dr. Krop, MAST, and Dr. Phillips highs schools. Freshman Eleanor Kriplen '28 and junior Lucy Hansen '26 led the way for the Raider offense throughout the tournament. Senior goalie Casey Manno '25 had a great tournament highlighted by her eight blocks in a victory over MAST to secure third place in the event. Raider bats get hot in 14-6 road victory
Read MoreSenior Mason Lastra '25 hit two home runs and drove in a career high eight RBI's as the Raiders defeated Miami Country Day 14-6 in a road contest. A seven run fourth inning would open the game up for the Raiders. Senior Justin Kaplan '25 and junior Enrique Macias '26 opened the inning with a pair of singles. A Raider walk loaded the bases for Lastra who made it count with a grand slam for his second home run of the game. Freshman Tyler Grossfeld '28 would add a solo shot to left field to cap a seven run inning. Junior Tino Peña '26 continued his strong junior season on the mound earning the victory striking out seven batters over four and one-third innings of work. The victory moved the Raiders to 8-3 on the season. A quick turnaround awaits as the Raiders host Palmer Trinity in a special event at Loan Depot Park this afternoon. Raider flag football earns first victory in school history
Freshman Penelope Galvin '28 threw for two touchdowns as the Raiders defeated MAST Academy 12-0 to earn its first win in school history. Freshman Nica Rosenberg '28 and senior Didi Carvalho '25 caught touchdown passes to etch their name in Raider history. Defensively, senior Anna Lavernia '25 made plays all over the field with four pass break ups and five flag pulls. Senior Sophie Ansin '25 and freshman Lila Chang '28 led the secondary with solid play to keep MAST off the scoreboard. Raiders get back on track with home victory

Junior Abby Pollak '26 continued her strong junior season with three goals and a season high 10 draw controls. Senior goalie Sofia Martin '25 played well stopping seven shots on goal. The Raiders will look to extend their win streak in a home contest against Palmetto High School Friday night. Boys lacrosse take two of three in Palm League Tournament
In a loaded field for boys palm league lacrosse, the Raiders picked up two hard fought wins over Miami Country Day and Pinecrest earning a top five finish in the mid season tournament held at Oxbridge Academy. Junior Elijah Ponce '26 combined for four goals and three assists, and senior Reid Rosenberg '25 came up clutch against Pinecrest with two goals and two assistars in a hard fought 8-7 victory. Other offensive standouts included freshman Liam Segal '28 who added two goals and four assists, and junior Wes Barnett '26 scored twice. Junior Jackson Crowley '26 had a huge tournament with 30 saves over three games including mutliple fourth quarter stops against Pinecrest. Boys go 4-0 in Wildcat Invitational
The boys water polo team completed a strong tournament weekend with four victories in four games over strong competition from across the state. The Raiders were led by junior Jack Merrick '26 who opened the tournament with eight goals against Lake Brantley in a 19-7 victory. Junior Oliver Friedland '26 also had a strong opening game with four goals and five assists. Day two of the Wildcat Invite saw the Raider defense step up in a dominant 16-4 victory over Olympia High School. Junior Jack Merrick '26 continued his strong tournament with a second eight goal performance. In game three, against a strong Seminole High School team the Raiders earned a hard fought 12-9 victory led by junior Oliver Friedland's four goal, three assist performance. Sophomore Ashton Gould '27 and junior Lincoln Broad '26 added two goals a piece in the victory. In the final game of the weekend against Winter Park High School the Raiders had a balanced attack led by Gould, Merrick, Friedland and Broad. Girls lacrosse displays grit in 14-13 win
Despite being down three players in the 2nd half, the Raiders found a way to earn a hard fought 14-13 victory over Key West in their home opener over the weekend at Robert E. Walker Field. Junior Bea de Lima '26 had a tremendous game with six goals and one assist. Fellow juniors Alicia Medina '26 and Abby Pollak '26 combined for six goals and three assists. Junior Dylan Berkowitz '26 and sophomore Phia Ranawat '27 added a goal to round out the scoring for the Raiders. In a back and forth game, crucial saves were made by senior goalie Sofia Martin '25 who finished the game with a season high 15 saves to stave off the Key West offense in the fourth quarter. The Raiders will now turn their attention to the Palm League Tournament with a quarterfinal road matchup against Pine Crest at 5:00 p.m. this afternoon.Read More -
Raiders roll behind strong pitching to move to 5-0
Junior Tito Pena '26 threw five innings of no hit baseball to go along with eight strikeouts in a special performance to lead the Raiders to victory and a 5-0 record on the season. The Raider offense continued their hot start led by senior Mason Lastra's '25 three hit, five RBI game that included his second home run of the season. Sophomore Tyler Grossfield '27 and junior Juan Velazco '26 combined for five hits, five runs scored and three RBI's in the victory. The Raiders will now turn their attention to the Marathon Dolphins as they look to extend their unbeaten streak to six. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Boys and Girls Club.Read More -
Raider baseball moves to 2-0
Junior Tino Pena '26 picked up the victory striking out eight batters over three innings as the Raiders moved to 2-0 on the season. Senior Mason Lastra '25 sent one over the fence for his first homerun of the season as the Raider bats continued their torrid start to the season. Junior Juan Velazco '26 added four hits, three RBI's and four runs scored including three doubles. In total the Raiders combined for 19 hits in 33 at bats on the evening in a 19-0 route of Pinecrest North Prep Academy. Raiders advance to regional semifinal in penalty kicks
In front of a large crowd the Raiders dug deep and found a way to defeat Carrollton in the class 2A regional quarterfinals to keep their season alive. Despite an early deficit, the Raiders controlled the game and put consistent pressure on the Carrollton defense. Late in the first half junior Avery Almazan '26 played a perfect ball into the box which junior Jojo James '26 converted to provide the Raiders the equalizing goal at the half. The second half saw the Raiders continue to control the game but unable to take the lead. Penalty kicks would ensue and successful attempts by juniors Jojo James '26, Stella Colombo '26, Olivia Geller '26 and sophomore Natalia Gupta '27 followed by two crucial stops by senior goalkeeper Addison Pollock '25 propelled the Raiders to victory. Raiders roll in home opener
Senior Reid Rosenberg '25 got off to an impressive start with six goals and one assist to lead the Raiders in a 13-1 victory over Miami Country Day to move to 1-0 on the season. Freshman Liam Segal '28 and sophomore Winston Hosford '27 both scored twice in the victory. The Raiders received terrific goalie play from junior Jackson Crowley '26 who stopped all eight shots to earn his first career shutout. From the opening whistle the Raiders dominated play with constant pressure on the Spartan defense resulting in nine first half goals. From their the team would cruise to victory behind strong midfield play. The Raiders will get back on the practice field today as they look to go 2-0 when they host Coral Reef High School on Wednesday evening at Robert E. Walker Field. RE Sailing claims first place in major regatta held at RE
The Ransom Everglades varsity sailing team finished in first place in a major sailing competition that drew 18 schools from around the southeastern U.S. and Caribbean to the Anderson Watersports Center on February 1. Griggs Diemar '25 and Amelia Lazarus '25 led from start to finish in the A division of the South Atlantic Interscholastic Sailing Association South Points #3, and Sebastian van de Kreeke '25 and Sofia Rhone-Fernandez '26 dominated the B division.Read More

Raiders win girls' soccer district championship
With the district title on the line, Johanna James '26 broke a scoreless tie in overtime and fellow junior Stella Colombo '26 added another goal to give the Raiders a thrilling 2-0 victory over True North Classical Academy at Robert E. Fall sport student-athletes win all-county recognition
Read MoreTwo middle school student-athletes were among the Ransom Everglades fall sports athletes who earned first-team all-county recognition from the Miami Herald. Cole Durham '29 and Axel Monssoh '30 helped the boys' golf team win a district title and finish 11th at the state championship under coach Dave Ragan, who was named the Miami-Dade Boys’ Golf Coach of the Year. Volleyball star Addison Pollock '25 and swimmer Kiera Rampersad '25 also won first-team honors in the Herald rankings.

Boys soccer advances to district semifinal
Read MoreJunior Ryan Alesandro '26 earned his first shutout of the season as the Raiders advanced to the district semifinal with an 8-0 victory over Pinecrest Glades Academy. Sophomores Lucas Piedrahita '27, and Jasper Frankel '27 combined for four goals and three assists in a strong performance. The Raiders also received goals from senior Luca Falero '25, freshman Sebastian Daes '28 and juniors JJ Candib '26 and Bryan West '26. With the victory the Raiders keep their season alive and now begin preparations to face top seeded Divine Savior on Monday afternoon. Kick off is scheduled for 3:30 at Doral Meadows Park.

Sports Performance at Ransom Everglades
Ransom Everglades offers its students a sports performance training program designed to meet the year-round strength and conditioning needs of student-athletes while enhancing physical education offerings for all students. Our training staff assists students with sport-specific training regimens designed to develop physical competence, improve athletic performance and prevent injury, and they work closely with each of RE's coaches to integrate the performance training into their weekly practice plans and optional off-season workouts. Those principals are incorporated into the middle school physical education program. At the high school, the goal is to achieve physical competence, improve athletic performance and decrease the risk of injury.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society.
