Athletics
Lessons for life
Athletics has been an integral part of a student’s education at Ransom Everglades throughout the school’s history. Head coaches are teachers and educators, and many are part of the academic faculty. Our goal is to foster a student's passion for sports while instilling leadership skills, teamwork and a lifelong work ethic.
We don’t recruit athletes. We build programs. The middle and upper schools field 76 teams for boys and girls in 17 sports. More than half of our students play on at least one team every year. Some 15 percent of Raider athletes go on to play at the collegiate level.
No matter their next steps in life, student-athletes depart Ransom Everglades with skills and values that help them lead and thrive.

Girls swimming wins dual meet against Gulliver
Senior Sophia Linfield '26 led the way with two victories in the 200 individual medley and 100 yard backstroke as the Raiders earned a two point team win over Gulliver 85-83. Sophomore Eleanor Kriplen '28 earned a victory in the 50 yard freestyle and fellow sophomore Sophie Szutkowski '28 added wins in the 100 yard butterfly and 100 yard breaststroke. Congratulations to all swimmers and coaches on an excellent meet. RE golf scores big at Youth Fair Invitationals
Read MoreFor the first time in school history, Ransom Everglades golfers swept the top finishes at the Youth Fair Invitationals at Country Club of Miami, winning four first-place trophies. Cole Durham '29, Navraj Suri '26 and Hugo Stenstrom '26 scored first through third places, respectively, in the individual competition, helping RE's boys' team top a field of 21 teams. (Durham shot a 67 on the par-70 course, and Suri scored 68, and Stenstrom, 69.) Esha Nagalla '29 won the girls' competition, leading her team to a victory in the 12-team field. Nagalla shot a 70, and teammates Ella Wester '28 (72), who was fourth overall, and Nina Fischer '29 (74) also contributed.

Raider football picks up district road victory
Sophomore quarterback Matthew Guavara '28 rushed for a season high four touchdowns as the Raiders rolled to a 35-14 road victory over Miami Springs High School. Despite an early touchdown from Miami Springs the Raiders didn't panic and scored on their next four drives to go up 28-7 at the half and cruise home from there. Freshman running back Will Duncan '29 had his best game as a Raider and first career 100 yard rushing day of his career. Freshman Evans Branch '29, junior Coley Hucks '26 and senior Edwin Carr '25 were dominant at the line of scrimmage combining for 15 tackles including five for loss and three sacks. The Raiders will now head into their much needed bye week as they prepare for the closing stretch with hopes of earning a regional playoff berth.Read More -
Raiders celebrate dig pink with victory
Freshman Nalah Picchetti '29 led the way with a team high 25 assists as the Raiders earned a three set road victory over Carrollton. Freshman Abbie Zichella '29 added 13 kills and freshman Lola Picchetti '29 poured in five kills. The game between the two teams marked a special return to a Dig Pink tradiiton between RE and Carrollton. The true winner tonight was the money raised for breast cancer awareness and research as part of the special event. The Raiders will now turn their attention to the Palm League Invitational for a trio of important games as the regular season wraps up at the end of the week.Read More -
Girls golf wins Miami Dade Youth Fair Invitational
Freshman Esha Nagalla '29 earned medalist honors with an even par 70 against some of the top players in the county to lead the Raiders to an 11 stroke victory at the Miami Dade Youth Fair Invitational. Sophomore Ella Wester '28 continued her terrific play with a fourth place finish with a +2 over par 72. Freshman Nina Fischer '29 became the third Raider to finish in the top seven with a+4 over par 74 to cap off a special day for the team. The victory is arguably the biggest win for the girls golf program in many years and caps a special 48 hours that saw both the girls and the boys win the team and individual titles. Boys Cross Country wins Palmer Trinity Invitational
Senior Nelson Manstein '26 led the way for the Raiders with a time of 17:40.10, good enough for a second place finish in the field of 100 athletes. Freshman Ivan Lefrak '29 continued his strong season with a fourth place finish and time of 17:49.30. Senior J.J. Candib '26 became the third Raider to finish in the top 7 with a time of 18:27.40. Overall the Raiders combined for a strong performance earning a team victory in the event. The team will now turn its attention to the FL Runners event this coming weekend.Read More

Raider golf picks up dual match victory
Freshman Nina Fisher '29 and sophomore Ella Wester '28 earned top individual honors in a nine hole dual match with Saint Brendan High School to lead the Raiders to victory. Senior Abby Pollak '26 and freshman Diana Graziano '29 rounded out the scoring for the Raiders. The team will now begin preparations for the highly anticipated Miami Dade Youth Fair Invitational which will bring together the best teams South Florida has to offer.Read More -
Raiders continue dominant stretch with Wolverine Invitational victory
Under warm, partly cloudy skies with light winds, the Raiders delivered their best team performance of the season, posting a score of 287 (+3). That mark ties the second lowest team score in Ransom school history, behind only the 2022 SFPGA High School Invitational where the Raiders finished at 285. Today’s effort was just enough to edge out class 1A rival, Florida Christian, by a slim seven strokes. The Raider victory was sealed in dramatic fashion as senior Navraj Suri '26 calmly holed an 18-foot eagle putt on one of the closing holes. The story of the day was eighth grader Axel Monssoh '30, who dazzled the Deering Bay members with a spectacular 5-under-par, 7-birdie round to claim medalist honors and lead the Raiders to victory.Read More -
Raider Cross Country impresses at Spanish River Invitational
The Raider boys and girls cross country teams performed well at the Spanish River Invitational with the boys finishing third in the 22 team field and the girls placing fifth. Freshman Ivan Lefrak '29 led the boys with a time of 17:54.1 and freshman Anna Block '29 and Gillian Carvalho '29 led the girls with times of 20:05 and 20:19 to earn top 13 individual finished in a 300 person field. Raiders pick up crucial win to celebrate homecoming
Freshman Abbie Zichella 29' led the way with 12 kills, eight digs, and three assists as the Raiders earned a four set victory over Downtown Doral in front of a large homecoming crowd. It was an important match for the Raiders as they currently sit just outside the top eight in the region. Freshman Nalah Picchetti '29 continued her strong play with a team high 24 assists to go along with 16 digs, and four kills. Senior Patty Maxwell '26 had her best game of the season with six kills, and two blocks. The Raiders will now turn their attention to the Palm Beach Classic Tournament this Friday and Saturday as they look to make their push to the postseason.Read More -
Raiders REtain the Oar in 28-0 shutout over Palmer Trinity
Sophomore quarterback Matthew Guavara '28 led the way throwing for 165 yards including two touchdown passes as the Raiders rolled to a 28-0 victory over Palmer Trinity in the annual Battle For the Oar game in front of a packed house at Robert E. Walker Field. Sophomore wide receiver Colton Smith '28 caught four balls for 85 yards and junior Tyler Grossfield '27 hauled in a 65 yard pass for his first touchdown of the season. Senior Charlie Holleman '26 rounded out the scoring for the Raiders with a receiving touchdown of his own late in the fourth quarter. Defensively, the Raiders continued their strong play with a second shutout in four games. Seniors Jack McCarron '26 and Edwin Carr '26 anchored the defense up front holding the Falcons to 93 total yards. The Raiders (2-2) will look to pick up their third victory of the season when they host Westminster Christian Friday night for homecoming in front of what will be a terrific crowd. Girls golf earns victory over Gulliver Prep
Sophomore Ella Wester '28 led the way in difficult conditions with an even par 35 to earn top individual honors in a dual match with Gulliver Prep hosted at the Biltmore Golf Course. Freshman Esha Nagalla '29 played solid golf firing a three over par 38 and sophomore Misha Gorda '28 impressed with a four over par 39. Raiders golf defeats Gulliver in dual match

Junior Mathew Puntikov '27 led the way with an even par 35. Freshman Pablo Munoz '29 and seventh grader Anson Dover '31 played terrific golf as well finishing one over par. Senior PJ Clingan '26 rounded out the scoring with a three over par 38. The Raiders will now begin preparation for the Palm League Invitational which will feature some of the best teams in the state of Florida hosted at the Biltmore Golf Course September 15th. -
Raiders roll in three set sweep
Freshman Abigail Zichella '29 led the way with 12 kills, three aces, and two blocks as the Raiders earned a three set sweep over Barbara Goleman High School. Junior Sarah Wals '27 added four kills and senior Myla Zuckerman '26 provided strong play from the back line with 11 digs. Freshman Nalah Picchetti '29 was terrific setting up her teammates with a team high 21 assists and three aces. Raider defense shines in 21-0 victory over North Broward Prep
Senior Edwin Carr '26 led the way with a dominant performance that included two sacks, and seven tackles as the Raider defense earned a shutout in a 21-0 victory over North Broward Prep. Fellow senior Charlie Holleman '26 added a pair of sacks to get his season off to a strong start, and the Raider offense found their footing late in the first half when sophomore quarterback Matthew Guevara '28 connected with sophomore Colton Smith '28 in the back of the endzone to get the Raiders on the scoreboard. Sophomore tailback Noah Alce '28 was electric all night carrying the Raider offense with 23 carries for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Eight athletes earn all-county first team honors
Read MoreEight spring sport athletes – four from water polo and four from lacrosse – earned first-team all-county recognition from the Miami Herald in its annual student-athlete rankings. Water polo players Oliver Friedland '26, Jack Merrick '26, Sydney Gould '25 and Eleanor Kriplen '28 were named along with lacrosse athletes Winston Hosford '27, Rauli Matos '26, Alicia Medina '26 and Caitlyn White '27. RE sailing earns third place in the nation
For the first time in Ransom Everglades history, the RE sailing team finished on the podium at the 2025 Mallory national championship – the Interscholastic Sailing Association Fleet Nationals. After two days of racing, 20 races and challenging conditions, Griggs Diemar '25, Elisa de Becker '28, Tommy Zaydon '28, Sebastian van de Kreeke '25, Sofia Rhone-Fernandez '26, Ava McAliley '26 and Leyla Amjad '26 finished third, securing the bronze medal in a close competition on the Thames River at Connecticut College.Read More -
RE crew teams shine at sweep state championships
Seven Ransom Everglades crew teams earned top results at the 2025 Florida Scholastic Rowing Association Sweep State Championships April 26-27 in Sarasota under coach Tim McAllister. The weekend's highlight was provided by the Boys Varsity 4+ – Vanessa Balson '26 (cox), Mateo Delgado '27, Mario Antonaccio '25, Ethan Sullivan '25 and Colton Seidel '25 – which finished third scholastically and in sixth place overall with a late sprint past two other crews.Read More

Sports Performance at Ransom Everglades
Ransom Everglades offers its students a sports performance training program designed to meet the year-round strength and conditioning needs of student-athletes while enhancing physical education offerings for all students. Our training staff assists students with sport-specific training regimens designed to develop physical competence, improve athletic performance and prevent injury, and they work closely with each of RE's coaches to integrate the performance training into their weekly practice plans and optional off-season workouts. Those principals are incorporated into the middle school physical education program. At the high school, the goal is to achieve physical competence, improve athletic performance and decrease the risk of injury.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society.
