Female math students win big at county competition
RE students swept the middle school portion of a county math competition for girls and scored top honors in the high school competition at the University of Miami. At the INTEGIRLS Miami Spring 2024 Competition on April 14, Minnie Zhou '26 finished first in the high school individual competition and partnered with Sirja Joeveer '25 to finish first in the team event. Maxie Wu ’28 finished first and Sofiya Dewan ’29 finished second in the middle school individual event and, in the middle school team competition Wu, Dewan, Andrea Medina ’28 and Esha Nagalla ’29 claimed first place and Maya Lee-Schonfeld ’30, Ria Bhandari ’28 and Alyssa Wang ’30 took second.
The girls were led by math team coaches Jessica Merrick (middle school) and Brittney Ellzey Mujica (upper school). The math team celebrated its successful season with an end-of-year celebration in the Dell.
