The Miguel B. Fernandez Family Foundation STEM Center, unveiled in August 2020, overlooks a beautifully landscaped quadrangle that is a major center of student life at the upper school. The three-story, 45,000 square-foot, glass-walled center features flexible spaces for innovation and collaboration, and state-of-the-art classrooms, maker space and laboratories. It welcomes students from throughout the campus who are engaging in interdisciplinary work or looking for a comfortable place to collaborate or study. Students gather for events, performances or just to hang out at the Mendelson Family Plaza and Steps, and they use the indoor Posner Lecture Hall for assemblies or large meetings indoors.
The facility allows Ransom Everglades students to explore new technologies, engage in high-level research and partner with students and faculty across disciplines. Then-Mayor of Miami Francis Suarez lauded Ransom Everglades for creating a center designed "to empower students, engage with the local community and deliver cutting-edge science and discovery that will be beneficial for all residents of the Magic City."
