Robotics team claims the 'Innovate Award' at Fort Lauderdale event
Israel Garcia '28, Porter Sanderson '29, Sidney Schwartz '29 and Dylan Kantesaria '29 captured the Innovate Award at the 2nd Annual Bots by the Beach VEX V5 Robotics Competition at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale on February 7. The award is given to the team that demonstrates an effective and well documented design process for a novel aspect of the team's robot design/gameplay strategy. Under the direction of RE robotics coach Bob DuBard, the team compiled a 5-1 record in the qualifiers and advanced to the semifinals.
The young team – all ninth graders and one sophomore – has already qualified for the state championship in March, and won the Design Award at another local competition in January.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
