Esperanto magazine brings multilingual expression to the RE community
As we prepare to celebrate the launch of Esperanto magazine on Tuesday, November 11, at 6 p.m. in the Posner Lecture Hall, I find myself reflecting on the many voices that make Ransom Everglades such a vibrant and interconnected community. This project, born from an idea shared with Lucia Corrochano ’26 and Carlos del Canal Fernández ’25, has grown into a publication that celebrates our students’ ability to create, to connect and to express themselves across languages and experiences.
Our launch will take the form of a tertulia, an evening of student readings, dialogue with the authors and shared reflection. The event invites our community to listen, to hear how words, when expressed in different languages and artistic forms, reveal both our individuality and our common threads. Light refreshments will be served.
Esperanto is the world languages publication at Ransom Everglades, a space where art, emotion, and identity intertwine. Conceived as a kind of kaleidoscope, the magazine reflects how every voice adds color and depth to the shared picture of who we are. The word texto, from the Latin textilis, reminds us that every text is a fabric, woven from many threads, each one essential. In this spirit, Esperanto embraces every language as a thread that helps stitch together the vast tapestry of our school and our city.
I am proud to serve as the sponsor of the publication, with the support of Dr. James Monk, Chair of the World Languages Department. Lucia Corrochano ’26, the magazine’s founding editor-in-chief, has led the creation of Volume I with dedication and vision, and Lucas Sánchez ’27 will continue in that position for the 2026-27 academic year. I also wish to acknowledge Daniela García ’26, whose cover design beautifully captures the spirit of this inaugural issue.
I hope you will join us for an evening of poetry, conversation and reflection, an opportunity to celebrate the creativity and humanity that unite us, no matter the language we speak.
