JV academic team wins second place in the nation

Ransom Everglades finished No. 2 in the nation at the National History Bowl in Arlington, Va., in the junior varsity division. Academic team members Parker Jelke ’27, Zachary Corbin Cheah ’27, Jaz Puri ’28 and Jack Gonzalez ’28 achieved the highest-ever placement for RE's upper school in the April 25-27 competition that included 54 teams from around the United States.
RE students also achieved some notable finishes in individual events: Jacob Aronow '26 earned second place in the Varsity National Geography Bee, Corbin Cheah finished first in the JV National International Affairs Exam, Puri won third place in the JV National Military History Exam, and Iker Fierro Garcia '28 took second place in the JV Environmental Science Exam. Many other students excelled at the event under coach Abby Berler and chaperone Rene Gonzalez.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it." The school provides rigorous college preparation that promotes the student's sense of identity, community, personal integrity and values for a productive and satisfying life, and prepares the student to lead and to contribute to society.
