RE's academic teams excel at the regional history bee and bowl

Ransom Everglades' academic teams won four first-place trophies and many other recognitions at the South Florida Fall Regional History Bee and Bowl held at Archimedean Upper Conservatory in Miami on December 7, and more than a dozen Raiders qualified for the National History Bee and Bowl in Arlington, Va., (high school) or Orlando (middle school) next spring.
Noah Veras '29 placed first in the middle school bee, and Parker Jelke '27 finished first in the junior varsity event. In the history bowl, RE's junior varsity team of ​G​abrielle Tchira '27, Jack Gonzalez '28, Harlan Hoening '28 and Jack Akselrad '28 finished first, as did the middle school team of Veras, Julian Jelke '29, Evan Powe '29 and Lucas Antia '29. The middle school team is led by coach Joe Mauro, and the upper school squads are led by coaches Abby Berler and Branley Fontaine.

Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida. Ransom Everglades School produces graduates who "believe that they are in the world not so much for what they can get out of it as for what they can put into it."
