Dozens of students assist Joshua's Heart on Global Youth Service Day

In an effort to combat food insecurity in South Florida, the Ransom Everglades Volunteer Service Council organized a large-scale food packing event in the school's gymnasium on April 27, Global Youth Service Day. The event drew dozens of RE students who helped assemble 15,000 nutritious food bags in partnership with U.S. Hunger and the Joshua's Heart Foundation. The volunteers included many members of the boys' and girls' water polo and other sports teams.
"This structured approach maximized productivity and fostered a sense of unity and teamwork, accomplishing the task in less than 45 minutes," said VSC officer Nina Rivera '25. "Once we finished, they also gave us six food boxes to donate to our local Coconut Grove Food Pantry. The event not only provided immediate assistance to those facing food scarcity inside and outside of our community, but also highlighted the critical role of organized community response in addressing such vital issues."
