Boys' sixth-grade cross country team wins national scholastic title in the 3,000 meters
RE's sixth-grade cross country team won the 2024 Middle School Cross Country Nationals in the 3,000 meters in Louisville, Kentucky, on Nov. 9. Russ LeFrak '31, Tiago Da Silva '31, Sebastian Dangond '31, Samuel Alexander '31 and Juan Andres Dasburg '31 crossed the finish line with an average time of 11 minutes and 48 seconds. LeFrak led the team with his 14th-place individual finish in 11:37.6; all of the boys finished in the top 28 in a field that included 80 runners from around the nation.
In other news from Louisville, RE's seventh- and eighth-grade girls' team placed ninth among schools in the girls' 4000 meters and the seventh- and eighth-grade boys' team placed 11th in the boys' 4K. Top RE finishers were Ella Griffin '29 (19th), Livia Winter '29 and Amelia Gonzales '29 for the girls, and Ivan LeFrak '29 (15th) and Merritt Perlyn '30 for the boys. RE's teams competed under coach Benjamin Yeo against clubs and schools from 29 states.
