RE showcases world premiere of schools' version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical

The Ransom Everglades middle school drama program reached new heights with the world premiere of the schools version of Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Musical, at Swenson Hall March 12-15. Jeff Kinney, the author of the Wimpy Kid series, shared a video tribute to the student performers and directors that aired at the opening of the show, and the middle school drama kids took it from there. Led by lead Greg Heffley, played by Izzy Greengrass '30, along with Sasha Estefan-Coppola '30, Davin Mantri '30, Gwyneth Rothfeld '30 and Nikolai Diego '31, the production included hilarious one-liners, charming songs and engaging costumes, choreography and set design. With the guidance of performing arts faculty member Cecilia Gonzalez, the students managed all elements of the musical, from the lights to the sound to the dancing. The cast included more than two dozen students and the production team numbered nearly 20 under student director Tula Thompson '29.
