Teamwork leads to gold at the 2025 South Florida Winter History Bee and Bowl
A Ransom Everglades academic team that included a mix of junior varsity and middle school competitors defeated all-varsity squads from across South Florida to win the championship at the 2025 South Florida Regional Hstiory Bowl at American Heritage Schools in Delray Beach on Jan. 11. Upper school academic team president Jacob Aronow '26 led the Raider team that finished undefeated and included Parker Jelke '27, Jaz Puri '28, Noah Veras '29 and Julian Jelke '29.
The Raiders topped squads of juniors and seniors from American Heritage, Coral Gables, MAST Academy and Archimedean Academy. American Heritage (Palm Beach) finished second and MAST Academy finished third.
The students also excelled in the individual bee competition. Parker Jelke took first place and Puri, second, in the junior varsity division. In the middle school division, Veras took gold and Julian Jelke, silver. The students have trained under coaches Abby Berler and Branly Fontaine at the upper school and Joe Mauro at the middle school.
Founded in 1903, Ransom Everglades School is a coeducational, college preparatory day school for grades 6 - 12 located on two campuses in Coconut Grove, Florida.
