Robotics team wins big at the South Florida Regional VEX Robotics Championship

The robotics team of Mateo Heitner '25, Ivan Rosenfeld '25, Victoria Paraoulaki de Miranda '24, Erick Gross '24 and Gabriel Karsenti '26 put forth one of the most successful performances in RE robotics history at the South Florida Regional VEX Robotics Championship in Miami Springs on March 2. The Raiders won The Excellence Award, the Robot Skills Challenge award and Tournament Finalist recognition, triple-qualifying for the world championships in April in Dallas, Tex.
Fifty teams from throughout the region competed in the event, which was hosted by Ransom Everglades under the direction of robotics coach and STEM Department faculty member Bob DuBard. A team of ninth graders – Lucas Lafosse-Marin '27, Nicolas Castillo '27, Nicolas Motoki '27, Ricardo De Lorenzi '27, Girish Raju '27 and Roberto Erana '27 – finished 12th in the skills competition and advanced to the semifinals.

Former RE faculty member Greg Cooper served as lead referee.
